Victoria Livschitz
Founder and CEO


Victoria Livschitz is the Founder and CEO of Grid Dynamics. She has been a serial entrepreneur, innovator and industry authority on Java and grid computing for over 15 years.

Prior to founding Grid Dynamics in 2006, Victoria served for 10 years as a principal technologist at Sun Microsystems, where she held a number of senior positions including Chief Architect for the General Motors account, Principal Architect for the Financial Services industry, Principal Architect for the Sun Grid division and Senior Scientist at Sun Labs. She pioneered the use of Java in factory automation for General Motors, designed the industry-first real time fraud detection system for Visa and architected the original compute utility product for software developers. During her tenure at Sun, she also conducted original research into next-generation computer languages and designed a new programming language, Metaphors. Prior to Sun, Victoria started her career at Ford in 1994 as a high-performance computing engineer and graduated from the Henry Ford Fast Track Management Program at the top of her group.

Victoria is a winner of several prestigious awards for engineering excellence, including Ford’s Chairman Award and Sun’s System Engineer of the Year Award. She has multiple patents in Grid technology.

Victoria holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University. She also attended Vilnius University, Kharkov State University, Purdue University and Stanford University, where she studied Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

 
Eugene Steinberg, Ph.D
CTO & Director, Saratov Engineering Center


Eugene Steinberg is the Chief Technology Officer of Grid Dynamics. He is responsible for setting the technology and architectural directions for the firm, worldwide, and delivering the highest caliber projects, technology and products to our customers. He also leads internal research projects, consults with customers and manages operations of the Saratov Engineering Center.

Eugene is an expert in distributed high-throughput and low-latency algorithms, applications and systems. His expertise includes many of the commercial middleware tools used in financial services and other industries for grid computing, including GigaSpaces XAP, Oracle Tangosol, Gemstone Gemfire, GridGain, Terracotta, Sun Grid Engine, DataSynapse GridServer, Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server, and Platform LSF and Symphony.

Presently, Eugene is concentrating on the design patterns for integration and interoperability between computational grids and data grids. He spearheads several Grid Dynamics-led projects in this space, including the open source project Convergence.

Eugene holds a Ph.D. in Mechanics and Numerical Analysis from Saratov State University.
 
Sylvia Kainz
COO


Sylvia Kainz has more than 13 years of operations, marketing and consulting experience in high tech and telecom. She is responsible in managing the operations and the growth of Grid Dynamics Consulting Services. Prior to joining Grid Dynamics, Kainz worked at Ririo.com in the role of VP of Operations. She served as Director of Brand Management at United Technologies/Carrier where she led all branding, customer support and channel management. Before joining UTC/Carrier, she held responsibilities for consulting teams across software, mobile and Internet services projects at Accenture.

Sylvia holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master of Law and Diplomacy (MALD) from Tufts University and a Lic.oec.publ (Economics, magna cum laude) from the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
 
Hal Jespersen
Principal Consultant


Hal Jespersen is a Principal Consultant for Grid Dynamics, currently leading a major configuration management project for eBay. His years of industry experience include enterprise IT technology, architecture, collaboration, and standards development, both internal and external. He was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, most recently architecting compute-grid technology for utility "Software as a Service."

Hal was a leader of the "Sun on Wall Street" initiative, a small team reporting to the Sun President, charged with increasing Sun’s mindshare with the technology-leading firms in the capital equities markets. He also served as Chief Technologist of iPlanet (Sun/Netscape Alliance), providing architectural direction for enterprise-class Java servers, Web services, directory, management, security, and portal services, and leading technology acquisitions, partnerships, and standards.

Prior to joining Sun, he was an independent consultant involved in various open systems standardization efforts (principal of POSIX Software Group). He was the Technical Editor for the IEEE/ISO POSIX family of standards and was the Chair of the POSIX Shell and Utilities working group.
