Senior/Principal DevOps Engineer (Big Data, Kubernetes)
We are looking for a Senior/Principal DevOps engineer with infrastructure coding experience that can take a central role in design, deploy, build, guide and scale a completely new Kubernetes/Kafka-powered big data platform. The development just started and the platform is projected to be core backbone of all data engineering. Our customer is a world leading technology company based in Silicon Valley with operations all over the world. The ideal candidate is proactive in terms of design and development, fast moving and has senior experience with scaling services and applications, specifically on Kubernetes.
Responsibilities:
Design, deploy and optimize big data platform services on Kubernetes
Guide and work with key architects, developers and stakeholders to ensure very high scalability and CI/CD
Code develop and contribute to platform service functionality
Own POC solutions for specific components together with key developers before hand-off
Participate in project design discussions, write design documentation as necessary and present results to key stakeholders
Work inside a team of industry experts within the Big Data realm
Requirements:
6 years experience working with DevOps
3 years experience working with Kubernetes
Hands on experience with event messaging systems - Kafka, Kinesis or equivalent
- Experience working with Big Data tools
Java coding experience. Python or Scala alternatively.
Ability to scale big data application services on Kubernetes
Strong communication skills
Worked with HDFS
What will be a big plus:
Understanding Spark
Understanding scheduling technologies - Airflow, Azkaban
Understanding streaming technologies - Cassandra
