Senior Java Developer / Team Lead
Grid Dynamics is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our team on a large-scale digital transformation initiative. In this role, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills - helping to guide development efforts, mentor engineers, and contribute directly to advanced Search and Generative AI solutions. You’ll be working on impactful projects for a global leader in the food distribution and logistics industry, with the opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges and shape a platform used by hundreds of thousands of B2B customers worldwide.
Essential functions
Write high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code for critical components and features using Java 17+ and Spring Boot. Actively contribute to the overall codebase, enforcing high standards and best practices.
Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges, including performance bottlenecks and scalability issues, through systematic debugging and root cause analysis.
Proactively refactor and improve the existing codebase to enhance maintainability, extensibility, and readability while strategically addressing technical debt.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing clear guidance and support. Lead by example, conduct constructive code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including design documents and architecture diagrams, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Ensure the reliability of our software by implementing rigorous testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and promoting a quality-first mindset within the team.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a team leadership or technical lead position.
Strong background in back-end development, ideally with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
Practical experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Good understanding of cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Exposure to search platforms, such as ElasticSearch.
Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS).
Would be a plus
Experience working with Generative AI integration or advanced search technologies.
Exposure to mobile-friendly web applications or cross-platform solutions.
Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS).
Background in e-commerce, food logistics, or B2B platforms.
Knowledge of front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, Redux, and Material UI.
