SQL DBA
One of our prestigious clients in Financial Services are looking for an experienced DBA to help with ambitious new optimisation and development workstreams for their central database.
Essential functions
The first mission will be to help upgrade from SQL Server 2019 to 2022, with further possible workstreams including:
Assessment of and deployment of Query Store, as means of capturing key performance insights and opportunities for optimization within frequently executed queries.
Assessment of and deployment of replication, as a means of creating a read-only replica for query use-cases.
An audit of performance indicators and data captured by SQL Sentry, to identify opportunities for performance improvement.
Examination of the current use of Filtered Statistics within their DB to assess their value and effectiveness.
A review of current infrastructure used to host SQL Server, including examination of disk configuration and opportunities for partitioning.
Creation of a benchmarking / load test environment, used as part of automated deployments and running large workloads to test resilience.
Qualifications
SQL Server, Redgate
Would be a plus
Good client-facing communication and consulting skills. Past experience with Query Store, SQL Server upgrades, Filtered Statistics, database infrastructure sizing.
