Data Engineer (Scala/Java)
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Scala or Java, strong SQL skills, and experience building large-scale data pipelines on the AWS ecosystem. In this role, you will work with Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, MySQL, and Cassandra to deploy advanced fraud prevention and monitoring services on AWS for a UK client.
Essential functions
Design large-scale, complex data pipelines for both batch and real-time data processing
Ensure scalability, efficiency, and reliability of data systems
Lead the integration of complex data sources and advanced data transformations
Create database design and optimization strategies for large datasets
Manage and scale data warehouses and data lakes for enterprise-level solutions
Lead efforts in improving data integrity, accuracy, and performance across systems
Work on scaling infrastructure and pipelines to handle large volumes of data
Ensure comprehensive monitoring of data systems and implement advanced troubleshooting strategies.
Implement security protocols for data storage, access, and processing
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
Experienced with Scala (preferred) / Java as the primary programming language
Strong background in AWS
Strong SQL Skills
Experienced with Apache Spark, Hadoop, MySQL, Cassandra
Experience working with Kafka
Has previously built large data pipelines on the AWS ecosystem
