Performance Engineer
Value Added Services (Acceptance Solutions) is a Product Development group focused on building highly scalable, secure, and resilient payment solutions. The team develops full-service payment platforms by combining payment processing, fraud management, security, and reporting systems.
We are seeking a Performance Engineer to design, execute, and optimize performance strategies for large-scale, low-latency, high-throughput payment systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production readiness, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical applications operating in distributed environments.
Essential functions
Design and implement application and infrastructure performance models for highly scalable, low-latency, and highly available systems.
Define and execute end-to-end performance testing strategies, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing.
Partner with architects and development teams to ensure appropriate performance instrumentation and metrics are embedded within application components.
Evaluate, develop, and execute performance test tools to validate system limits of critical applications.
Analyze APIs, integration patterns, and distributed system abstractions to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Establish performance baselines, certification criteria, and Go-Live readiness reports.
Monitor application performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities across CPU, memory, disk, network, OS, and application layers.
Contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
Support triaging and troubleshooting of performance degradation incidents in production environments.
Review application code and recommend performance optimization techniques.
Document performance test cycles, scripts, methodologies, results, and recommendations.
Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in performance engineering, performance tuning, analysis, or application development.
Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments, OS internals, file systems, storage, and networking protocols.
Working knowledge of virtual machines and containerized environments.
Expertise with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, or equivalent.
Experience with APM tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, OPNET, or similar.
Proficiency in Java and/or Python, along with scripting capabilities.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
