Solution Platform Architect

We are looking for a Solution Platform Architect to join a new team at one of our clients, a major American pet care retailer offering supplies, services, and care solutions. This is an opportunity to join a large, well-established organization that combines retail, services, and digital solutions to improve the lives of pets and their owners, in a collaborative environment with the chance to work on impactful, customer-facing products at scale.

Essential functions

  • Design and evolve scalable platform architectures using React, Next.js, Node.js, and GCP to support ecommerce growth.
  • Define frontend, backend, and API standards, ensuring performance, security, and reliability across teams.
  • Build shared platform capabilities, tools, and golden paths to improve developer experience and delivery speed.
  • Act as a technical leader, guiding teams through architectural decisions and cross-domain collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Architecture & Design: Scalable platform architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, API design, performance & resilience.
  • Frontend: React & Next.js (SSR/SSG/ISR), frontend architecture, design systems, performance, accessibility.
  • Backend: Node.js (NestJS/Express), async patterns, auth (OAuth/JWT), integrations.
  • Cloud: GCP (Cloud Run/GKE, storage, networking), cloud-native design, security & cost optimization.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: GitHub Actions, automated pipelines, release strategies, environments, observability.
  • Ecommerce Domain: Catalog, cart/checkout, payments, order lifecycle, high-traffic scaling, compliance basics.
  • Platform Engineering: Developer platforms, shared tooling, standards, API governance, DX.
  • Leadership: Technical ownership, mentoring, cross-team alignment, clear communication.

Would be a plus

  • eCommerce experience
