Staff Quality Assurance Engineer

Essential functions

·      Perform all levels of software testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing for mobile and web-based applications.

·      Architect and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks from scratch using Java, Appium, TestNG, and supporting libraries.

·      Design and support CI/CD pipelines for parallel, stable, and efficient test execution.

·      Technical lead for the configuration and deployment of simulator-based macOS mobile device farms to support continuous integration.

·      Spearhead migration from third-party solutions to in-house infrastructure.

·      Establish and evolve QA strategy, process documentation, test planning, and test reporting.

·      Responsible for sprint-level test coverage and release quality in alignment with Product, Dev, and DevOps.

·      Drive continuous improvement of QA processes through tooling enhancements, onboarding strategies, and technical leadership.

·      Act as primary QA point of contact for the client and engineering leadership.

·      Perform code reviews and lead quality initiatives across squads.

·      Various worksites—job may allow for remote work, job may involve relocation to anticipated or unanticipated locations across the United States, including client sites and Grid Dynamics’ offices throughout the United States and/or company headquarters located in San Ramon, CA.

Qualifications

·      Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. 

·      At least TWO (2) years of experience in the job offered or at least TWO (2) years of experience in the following:

1.     Designing and building mobile test automation frameworks using Java and Appium, including abstraction layers and utilities for dynamic UI and platform-specific behaviors.

2.     Implementing scalable test execution infrastructure, including macOS-based simulator farms, to replace third-party platforms and enable high-parallelism test runs.

3.     Working with test strategy, release risk assessment, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.

4.     Executing deep-level API validation using Java-based test clients and mock contracts to verify request/response integrity and system behavior under varying load.

5.     Maintaining full traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and production incidents to support compliance and reporting initiatives.
