Senior Node.js Developer
We are building an internal web platform for our client to manage projects, sites, and stations within a single centralized system. To support this evolution and maintain high engineering standards, we are looking for a Senior Node.js Developer who will take ownership of backend architecture, drive technical decisions, and ensure the system remains scalable, efficient, and maintainable.
Essential functions
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services following clean architecture and best practices
- Build and optimize data models and queries ensuring performance, consistency, and reliability
- Prepare functional requirements and technical/design documentation for new features and system enhancements
- Analyze performance bottlenecks, identify root causes, and propose scalable and cost-effective improvements
- Own the full backend lifecycle—from development and testing to deployment and monitoring
- Work with the incoming support request chain, performing RCA and driving issues to resolution
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver end-to-end features
- Write clear technical documentation and contribute to architectural decisions and code reviews
- Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability while reducing technical debt
- Take full ownership of testing strategy and execution (unit, integration, and other relevant testing) using Jest and complementary testing approaches in a QA-less environment.
Qualifications
5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend systems
Proven hands-on experience with Node.js and Express.js in production environments
Strong proficiency in SQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
Practical experience with PostgreSQL and/or CockroachDB
Solid experience building and operating systems on AWS, including: Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, S3, ECR, Certificate Manager, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager
Experience designing, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and log aggregation, particularly Splunk
Experience designing scalable, reliable, and secure APIs and backend services
Strong understanding of cloud-native and event-driven architectures
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable taking ownership of features from design through production
Capable of making architectural and technical decisions
Experience reviewing code and providing constructive feedback
