Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Java)
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a team working on an internal data platform service responsible for data extraction and propagation across multiple systems.
The role is focused on backend development and building scalable RESTful APIs, with minimal involvement in ML or Big Data pipelines.
Essential functions
Develop and maintain backend services for an internal data management platform
Design and implement RESTful APIs
Build and improve data migration tools
Support migration of clients from legacy systems to new platform services
Update and maintain client SDKs
Collaborate with engineering teams, EPMs, and stakeholders to support deployments across multiple accounts
Participate in code reviews and ensure high code quality standards
Contribute to technical documentation and specifications
Support troubleshooting and resolution of migration-related issues
Qualifications
Strong experience in backend development with Python (must-have) and/or Java
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
Experience with system design and microservices architecture
Hands-on experience with:
Frameworks: Spring Boot, Django, or Flask
Databases: PostgreSQL, Cassandra
RESTful API development
Version control: Git
CI/CD: Jenkins or similar tools
Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
Cloud platforms: AWS
Would be a plus
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Understanding of ETL processes
Familiarity with Agile methodologies
