Senior Ruby Developer

Grid Dynamics is looking for a Ruby Developer who will be responsible for building and maintaining the tools that help our expert stylists stay connected with their clients. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product, design, UX, data science, data engineering, and iOS teams to continuously improve and innovate our platform.

Essential functions

  • Lead the execution of complex projects within the team or across multiple engineering teams, collaborating closely with product, design, UX, and data science partners.

  • Work on high-visibility problems that directly impact retention and engagement for millions of clients, and efficiency/effectiveness for thousands of stylists.

  • Break down projects into actionable milestones and deliver sustainable results against measurable goals.

  • Proactively communicate status updates, scope changes, and timeline shifts to teammates, stakeholders, and leadership.

  • Be an engaged member of the engineering team—leading meetings, actively participating in ceremonies, creating technical design documents, and pairing with other engineers.

  • Provide technical leadership through mentorship, pairing, timely feedback, and code reviews that encourage the growth of your teammates.

  • Use data to frame business problems and inform technical decisions.

Qualifications

  • Five years of professional software development experience, including at least a year in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience with some or all of these technologies: Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Next.js, React, and CSS/Sass.

  • Experience with GraphQL and Apollo, both consuming APIs and designing schemas.

  • Setting clear priorities and communicating them openly with your team and partners.

  • Mentoring other engineers and creating space for them to grow.

  • Leading technical planning and design, and you're pragmatic about weighing scope against value.

  • Collaborating with product and design partners to shape features, not just implement them.
