Slack Migration Specialist
We’re looking for a Slack Migration Specialist to own the technical risk surface of a large-scale enterprise Slack migration end to end.
The migration involves 10,000+ users moving from Slack Enterprise Select to Slack Enterprise+.This is a high-stakes position for someone who knows Slack's platform internals deeply and has the operational instincts to design testing methodology from scratch, write runbooks another engineer can execute under pressure, and make unilateral judgment calls when vendor guidance runs out.
Essential functions
Independently own the technical risk surface of the migration, making judgment calls on app compatibility
Design testing methodology from scratch
Produce runbooks for migration processes
Bridge the gap between Slack’s guidance and our need for certainty
Own the Technical Workstream end-to-end
Qualifications
Deep understanding of Slack’s platform architecture, including APIs (Web API, Events API, RTM), webhooks, workflows, bot tokens, OAuth scopes, and Slack apps vs legacy integrations
Experience with enterprise Slack administration or Slack app development at scale
Ability to read, assess, and make risk-based decisions on custom app code across multiple languages/frameworks
Comfortable designing testing methodologies without vendor support, including smoke tests for both hard downtime and soft downtime scenarios
Strong operational discipline; able to produce runbooks that another engineer can execute under pressure
Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
Strong communication skills and ownership mindset; able to coordinate with 100+ app and workflow owners, explain technical implications to non-technical stakeholders, and work directly with Slack’s PS team
Able to make unilateral decisions on app compatibility classification, test methodology, Sandbox configuration, runbook content, and vendor outreach approach
