Senior Full Stack Engineer
Fully Remote from Portugal
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable microservices and RESTful APIs to support training workflows, job scheduling, and machine learning model metadata management. While your core strengths should lie in Java and backend architecture, some experience with frontend technologies (React/JavaScript) are nice to have, but not the primary focus.
You’ll work in a modern cloud-native environment, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices to deploy and manage applications at scale. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technically complex environment and wants to help shape robust, data-intensive systems.
Essential functions
Build scalable backend systems using Java and other backend frameworks
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to support training workflows and metadata systems
Work with relational and NoSQL databases
Collaborate with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools
Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes
Contribute to cloud-based deployments (AWS or Google Cloud)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and scalability
Develop intuitive UI dashboards using JavaScript and React (secondary focus)
Qualifications
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong programming skills in Java, with deep understanding of object-oriented principles
Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and microservices
Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB, Cassandra databases
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling like Jenkins
Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP
Knowledge of deploying and managing applications in cloud environments
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Would be a plus
Working knowledge of JavaScript and React for UI development
Experience in other backend languages/frameworks (e.g., Go and Spring Boot)
Prior experience in machine learning workflows or metadata-driven systems.
