Senior Big Data Engineer (Scala/Spark)

We are looking for a skilled Big Data Engineer to join a distributed international team working on large-scale data processing and analytics solutions.

The project focuses on building pipelines and infrastructure for reporting systems that process massive datasets and generate business-critical statistics for stakeholders. The team designs, develops, and validates high-performance jobs using the latest versions of Scala and Spark, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and reliability of data processing workflows.

This is a highly technical role with exposure to modern Big Data ecosystems, infrastructure improvements, and cloud-related initiatives. Since the team also works closely with platform and infrastructure components, experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices will be considered a strong advantage.

Essential functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data processing pipelines using Scala and Spark

  • Implement and optimize large-scale distributed data processing jobs

  • Participate in infrastructure-related initiatives including Spark upgrades and cloud migration activities

  • Contribute to Dev Analytics and Crash Analytics solutions

  • Improve infrastructure observability and management tooling

  • Ensure correctness, reliability, and performance of implemented algorithms and reporting systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in a distributed environment

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Scala and Apache Spark

  • Experience working with Hadoop ecosystem technologies

  • Knowledge of distributed data processing and computation frameworks:

    • Kafka

    • Spark

    • DataFrame / SQL API

  • Experience with database technologies such as:

    • Oracle

    • PostgreSQL

    • Teradata

    • Cassandra

  • Good understanding of distributed computing concepts, architectures, and patterns

Would be a plus

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
