Staff Java Developer

Essential functions

• Support, maintain, and refactor existing Java platform components

• Design and develop new backend services and APIs

• Contribute to scaling and improving ServiceTalk adapter development

• Work with legacy integrations and modernize existing architecture

• Ensure backward compatibility and smooth migration strategies across releases

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented production code

• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making

• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and stability

• Collaborate directly with the client’s engineering team during regular sync calls

Qualifications

• Upper-Intermediate+ English (spoken and written)

• Regular overlap with the client team, including calls up to 9:00 PM Kyiv time

• Strong commercial experience with Java

• Deep expertise in core Java, concurrency, and JVM ecosystem

• Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures

  • including practical knowledge of collections internals, graphs, trees, etc.

• Solid understanding of software design patterns

  • e.g. Chain of Responsibility, Command, and similar

• Strong experience with multithreading and concurrency

  • synchronization, locking, thread lifecycle management

• Solid understanding of software release management

  • semantic versioning

  • deprecation strategies

  • backward compatibility maintenance

• Strong experience with Maven and Gradle

  • dependency management

  • build configuration

  • conflict resolution

• Experience with gRPC

• Strong coding standards, clean code practices, testing mindset

• Experience with unit and integration testing

• Experience with Neo4j or other graph databases

• Experience with MapStruct

• Knowledge of Artifactory or similar artifact repositories

• Experience building systems with custom pagination and batching

• Understanding of metadata indexing and enrichment pipelines

• Experience with parsing technical artifacts (POM, JAR, manifests, metadata files)

• Knowledge of SBOMs, software licenses, and compliance standards

• Experience with license parsing and release note indexing

• Understanding of repository analysis tooling

• Experience with UUID-based identity generation strategies

• Familiarity with workflow engines and asynchronous orchestration

• Experience building modular backend platforms

• Experience maintaining custom versioning/diff tooling

• Strong JavaDocs/documentation practices
