Senior C++ / Rust Engineer – Low-Latency eTrading
The Opportunity
JUXT is partnering with a Tier 1 investment bank on a major Fixed Income eTrading platform, where new systems are being built from the ground up in Rust.
The platform covers two core electronic trading workflows:
Pricing & Distribution – RFQ platform and electronic quoting
Hedging & Algo – automated hedging and algorithmic trading
The programme is modernising a legacy C++ application and replacing it with a modern, low-latency Rust platform.
We are looking for a Senior C++ Engineer with genuine low-latency electronic trading experience to help design and build this next-generation platform.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building high-performance, low-latency trading infrastructure.
You will bring strong C++ and electronic trading expertise while working with Rust to develop new capabilities across pricing, RFQ, quoting, hedging and algorithmic trading.
The role requires a deep understanding of what makes systems fast and predictable. You will be expected to apply principles such as mechanical sympathy, efficient memory layout, concurrency, lock-free techniques and disciplined performance measurement.
This is not a role where latency is estimated or assumed — it is measured, profiled and continuously optimised.
Essential functions
Key Responsibilities
Design and build new low-latency eTrading systems in Rust.
Apply established C++ low-latency engineering principles to a modern Rust platform.
Develop functionality across:
RFQ and pricing
Electronic quoting
Hedging
Algorithmic trading
Design systems for predictable and consistent latency.
Profile and measure system performance to identify optimisation opportunities.
Apply low-level performance techniques around memory, concurrency and CPU efficiency.
Develop reusable components that can be shared across the wider trading platform.
Work closely with the bank's eTrading engineers, architects and trading stakeholders.
Take ownership of technical problems from initial design through to production.
Help replace and modernise functionality within the existing legacy C++ trading platform.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
C++
Strong commercial C++ engineering experience.
Extensive experience building low-latency systems.
Strong understanding of modern C++ and performance-focused development.
Experience working with complex, production-grade systems.
Electronic Trading
Proven experience developing electronic trading systems.
Experience operating and supporting production trading platforms.
Understanding of the performance, reliability and correctness requirements of trading technology.
Low-Latency Fundamentals
Strong knowledge of areas including:
Mechanical sympathy
Memory layout and allocation
CPU/cache efficiency
Concurrency
Lock-free programming
Performance profiling
Latency measurement
Performance optimisation
Rust
Commercial Rust experience, or
Strong enthusiasm and ability to learn Rust, backed by excellent C++ fundamentals.
Engineering Approach
Able to take ownership of technical problems and drive them through to delivery.
Comfortable designing solutions independently.
Strong communication skills.
Able to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects and trading stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a technically demanding environment with a high degree of autonomy.
Would be a plus
Desirable Experience
The following would be highly valuable:
Production Rust experience.
Fixed Income or Rates trading experience.
RFQ and electronic quoting workflows.
Automated hedging.
Algorithmic trading.
Experience taking a greenfield trading system into production.
Experience modernising or replacing a legacy low-latency C++ platform.

The Environment
You will work within a Tier 1 global investment bank with a major markets and trading technology organisation.
The platform supports business-critical electronic trading and is being developed to a high engineering standard within a demanding regulated environment.
You will work closely with experienced eTrading engineers and the trading business, with the autonomy to design solutions and influence the direction of the new platform.
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to build low-latency trading infrastructure from the ground up.
You will take hard-won C++ and electronic trading expertise and apply it to a modern Rust technology stack, helping create a new platform without being constrained by an existing legacy architecture.
The programme provides the opportunity to influence technical design, develop reusable components and build production-grade Fixed Income eTrading capabilities across pricing, distribution, hedging and algorithmic trading.
You will also join JUXT, a premium software consultancy recognised for engineering quality and delivering complex technology programmes across financial markets.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a senior engineer who combines:
Strong C++ + genuine low-latency expertise + electronic trading experience + a willingness to embrace Rust.
You should be comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, measuring and optimising performance, and collaborating directly with experienced trading and engineering stakeholders.
C++ and real low-latency electronic trading experience are essential.
