Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a strong Data Engineer with solid Python and Microsoft Azure experience to join a greenfield data platform initiative. The project involves designing and building a new enterprise data platform and integration layer from scratch to support a large-scale national rollout. The platform will be Azure-native and is expected to use technologies such as Azure Databricks and potentially newer Microsoft data solutions, including Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview.

Essential functions

  • Design and develop data solutions for a new Azure-based enterprise data platform

  • Build and maintain reliable data pipelines and integrations

  • Develop data processing and integration components using Python

  • Work with Azure-native data services and modern data platform technologies

  • Collaborate with a third-party infrastructure provider delivering Azure as a Service

  • Contribute to the technical design and development of the platform from its early stages

  • Support integration between the platform and multiple external systems and data sources

  • Follow security, privacy, and data protection practices when working with sensitive and personally identifiable information

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and other project stakeholders in a distributed environment

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities and contribute to technical documentation

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer

  • Strong Python development skills

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data integrations

  • Good understanding of modern data engineering concepts and practices

  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms

  • Understanding of data security and privacy principles, particularly when working with sensitive or personally identifiable data

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned areas

  • Good communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team environment
