Rendering & Sensor Simulation Engineer
We are seeking a Rendering & Sensor Simulation Engineer to join a simulation engineering pod supporting the migration of an autonomy simulation platform from Unreal Engine to NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim for a global heavy-equipment manufacturer that is scaling autonomy, robotics and physical AI. In this role, you will lead the rendering and sensor side of the migration, working with our technical lead and the client’s simulation engineers to move rendering to Omniverse RTX, model cameras, LiDAR and radar so simulated data matches real sensors, and keep output fast enough for large-scale simulation campaigns.
Essential functions
Rendering Migration: Move rendering and sensor simulation from Unreal Engine 5 to Omniverse RTX, rebuilding the pipeline around real-time ray tracing.
Sensor Modeling & Fidelity: Model camera, LiDAR and radar sensors, including noise and fidelity characteristics, so the simulated data autonomy software is tested against matches real sensors.
Real-Time Performance: Profile and optimize GPU and memory usage so rendering and sensor output keep pace with large simulation campaigns.
Asset & Scene Performance: Work with the technical lead on asset and scene performance throughout the migration.
Qualifications
Commercial experience in graphics programming and real-time rendering, combined with hands-on sensor simulation work.
Unreal Engine 5: Hands-on experience building with Unreal Engine 5.
Omniverse RTX & Ray Tracing: Practical experience with NVIDIA Omniverse RTX and ray-tracing techniques.
Graphics Programming: Strong C++ and CUDA skills, plus Vulkan or OpenGL and shader development in HLSL/GLSL.
Sensor Simulation: Experience modeling camera, LiDAR and radar sensors, including sensor noise and fidelity.
GPU Optimization: Proven ability to profile and tune GPU and memory performance for real-time workloads.
Python: Working proficiency in Python.
Would be a plus
CARLA: Experience with the CARLA simulator.
USD & PhysX: Hands-on experience with Universal Scene Description and PhysX.
Synthetic Data: Experience generating synthetic data for perception models.
Sim-to-Real Validation: Experience validating simulated sensor output against real sensor data.
