Senior Front End Developer - AG Grid

JUXT is partnering with a Tier 1 investment bank (Citibank) to modernise the frontend estate within an area of capital markets. The trading desks rely on a mix of legacy thick-client and Angular 4 / AngularJS tooling that are being progressively consolidated and replaced with modern, high-performance React apps.
You will be embedded in a high-performing engineering team working on production trading surfaces used by traders across the world. The work is technically demanding: low-latency UIs over realtime feeds, large streaming grids, custom binary protocols, and a focus on quality, stability and performance.
Tech stack: React, TypeScript, ag-grid, WebSockets, RSocket, Solace, Simple Binary Encoding (SBE), Java services, OpenShift, Tekton pipelines.

Citibank is a Tier 1 investment bank, and one of the world’s largest. This role is in Citibank’s FX eTrading UI team (FX Fusion / Low Latency). Working on modernising legacy Angular 4 / AngularJS trading applications to a modern React stack, delivering high-performance, low-latency UIs for FX trading desks.
Location: London, Canary Wharf. Hybrid working, 3 days per week in the office alongside traders and the engineering team.
Essential functions
- Building new React applications for pricing, execution and post-trade analytics, deployed both as standalone web apps and inside the bank’s container-based environment.
- - Wiring UIs directly to real-time messaging infrastructure and working with binary message formats, to minimise latency.
- - Working with large, fast-moving data sets in the browser (ag-grid blotters, streaming pricing tiles, depth views) where rendering performance and memory behaviour matter.
- - Contributing to shared component libraries, app templates and standards so new apps have a consistent foundation.
- - Migrating legacy Angular 4 / AngularJS applications onto a modern React stack.
- - Building automated UI tests, to reduce reliance on manual QA.
- - Owning deployment via the bank’s CI/CD into containerised production environments.
Qualifications
Essential:
Strong React and TypeScript engineer with a track record of shipping production frontends and experience of AG Grid - ideally in trading, market data, or another low-latency, high-throughput domain.
- Deep understanding of browser performance: rendering pipelines, virtualisation, memory pressure, profiling, and what it takes to keep a streaming UI responsive under load.
- Comfortable consuming realtime feeds in the browser (WebSocket, RSocket, or pub/sub messaging) and reasoning about backpressure, reconnection, snapshots and recovery.
- Pragmatic full-stack instincts - you can read and reason about the Java service feeding your UI even if you do not write it day to day.
- Strong testing discipline and experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar.
Highly valued but not essential:
Experience migrating Angular or AngularJS applications to React.
- Direct experience with Solace or comparable messaging infrastructure (Tibco EMS, Kafka in low-latency configurations, Aeron).
- Familiarity with binary wire formats - Simple Binary Encoding (SBE), FlatBuffers, Protobuf - and an appetite for pushing decoding into the browser.
- Exposure to ag-grid or equivalent enterprise data-grid libraries at scale.
- FX domain knowledge - spot, forwards, options, pricing, market-making, TCA - or a strong appetite to learn.
- Experience with single-dealer platforms, RFQ / RFS workflows or order management UIs.
- Container-based deployment.
