Senior DevOps Engineer (Kafka)
We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong Kafka and AWS experience to join a cloud infrastructure team working on a major platform convergence initiative for a global financial client.
You will be responsible for provisioning cloud-based infrastructure, implementing CI/CD automation, and managing secure, high-availability Kafka clusters in AWS.
Essential functions
Design, implement, and automate AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Build and manage Kafka clusters, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
Configure and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and ArgoCD
Manage containerized workloads with Kubernetes (EKS) and Istio for service mesh
Ensure infrastructure monitoring using AWS CloudWatch and Datadog
Apply best practices in security and compliance, including TLS/mTLS and IAM policies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement fine-grained access control and external authorization
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering role
Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, EKS, ECR, S3, KMS, VPC, CloudWatch)
Solid experience managing and securing Kafka clusters in production environments
Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
Experience with CI/CD tools (ArgoCD, Jenkins)
Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS) and container orchestration
Good knowledge of TLS/SSL, IAM, and other cloud security principles
Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
English proficiency for communication in an international team
Would be a plus
- Experience with service mesh solutions (e.g., Istio) for secure service-to-service communication
- Knowledge of perimeter security auditing and external authorization filters (e.g., Istio External Authorization Filter)
- Hands-on experience with fine-grained access control and AuthZ services for least privilege enforcement
- Background in logging and auditing for compliance and security purposes
- Familiarity with managing external service integrations in a secure and audited manner
