About the session

AI can generate code in seconds, but most organizations still struggle to answer a fundamental question: is it helping the team deliver more value? Lines of code, completed tasks, and isolated benchmarks reveal activity, not the impact across the complete SDLC.

This session introduces a pragmatic building-block approach to planning, estimation, and productivity measurement. It is straightforward to introduce, works with familiar delivery practices, and produces increasingly dependable forecasts using the team’s own evidence. Team velocity then becomes a meaningful indicator of whether AI-first delivery is improving real outcomes.

You will also see why estimation is only the beginning. The same building blocks can help AI produce stronger draft specifications, implementation starting points, and other delivery assets, creating a repeatable path from better planning to faster delivery.

Andrey Batyuk is a technology leader with over 25 years of experience spanning software architecture, platform engineering, DevOps, QA, and technical program management, including nearly 5 years at Grid Dynamics, where he currently serves as Senior Director of Engineering, AI-Native SDLC, after four years as Principal Software Architect. He has led the end-to-end architecture of multiple platform generations, including the transition from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud, and personally built many of the platform’s most critical services—from the metadata catalog and API gateway to the microservice compiler, execution engine, and lambda server. Prior to Grid Dynamics, he served as Chief Software Architect at MAANA for five years and held senior architecture and delivery leadership roles at SparkCognition, Deutsche Bank, TriZetto, and Sun Microsystems.

Dr. Eugene Steinberg

Dr. Eugene Steinberg serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Grid Dynamics. A founding engineer and most recently, Distinguished Technical Fellow, Dr. Steinberg brings over two decades of expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, information retrieval, and scalable distributed systems to his leadership role. At Grid Dynamics, he has been instrumental in conceiving and scaling the company’s technology practices, spearheading mission-critical transformation programs for Fortune 1000 clients while pioneering breakthrough solutions in AI, search, and cloud-native platform development. His vision and hands-on leadership have established Grid Dynamics as a recognized innovator in digital transformation services. Dr. Steinberg oversees the company’s technology strategy, practice development, and innovation initiatives. His expertise spans enterprise AI applications, cloud platforms, data engineering, and modern application development—core capabilities that drive the delivery of high-impact solutions for global enterprises. Prior to becoming CTO, he built the company’s search and digital commerce practices from the ground up and pioneered many retail AI solutions, including visual search and conversational commerce. He joined Grid Dynamics in 2006 as its first employee and founding engineer, establishing core technology foundations while delivering transformative projects for clients including PayPal, eBay, Google, Macy’s, Home Depot, and Nike. Dr. Steinberg holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Mechanics from Saratov State University, where he focused on numerical analysis of nonlinear dynamic systems.
