We are looking for an IT Business Analyst to support a key initiative focused on advancing portfolio management capabilities for Financial Advisors. The project involves developing a flexible and sophisticated platform that enables advisors to build and manage a wide range of investment strategies within a single account. This solution supports both predefined allocation models and fully customized strategies tailored to individual client goals and preferences. By enhancing flexibility and personalization, the initiative aims to improve portfolio performance and deliver a more impactful client experience.

Essential functions

  • Requirement Analysis & Documentation

    • Research & Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research on industry trends, competitor solutions, and best practices to develop well-informed technical requirements.

    • Requirement Gathering: Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and prioritize business needs, ensuring clarity and feasibility for development teams.

    • Technical Requirement Development: Define and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

    • Workflow & Process Mapping: Create process flow diagrams, wireframes, and system models to visualize how the solution meets business goals.

  • Technical Responsibilities

    • API Documentation & Integration: Define API specifications, request/response formats, authentication methods, and integration workflows, ensuring seamless communication between systems.

    • ETL Process Definition: Work with developers and data engineers to outline Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) requirements, ensuring efficient data migration and transformation processes.

    • Database & Data Structure Analysis: Collaborate with database administrators and developers to define database schemas, relationships, and indexing strategies for optimal performance.

    • System Integration Planning: Analyze dependencies between different software components, define integration points, and ensure compatibility with external systems.

    • Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, data models, business logic, and technical workflows for developers and stakeholders.

  • Collaboration & Agile Development

    • Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with developers, testers, UX designers, and project managers to ensure requirements are well understood and implemented accurately.

    • Agile Participation: Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure smooth project execution.

    • Continuous Feedback & Iteration: Gather feedback from end users and stakeholders throughout the development cycle and adjust requirements as needed.

  • Project Documentation & Management

    • Maintain Clear Documentation: Develop and update comprehensive project documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, and requirement traceability matrices.

    • Change Management: Assess the impact of requirement changes, manage scope creep, and ensure all modifications align with business goals.

    • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively identify potential project risks related to business needs, technical feasibility, or user experience and propose solutions.

  • Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

    • Customer Communication: Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and the development team, translating technical details into business-friendly language.

    • Requirement Refinement: Regularly review and refine business requirements based on customer feedback and evolving project needs.

    • Product Demonstrations & Training: Participate in product demos, conduct user training sessions, and gather feedback to enhance system usability.

  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Support: Collaborate with QA teams and end users to validate that the software meets business expectations.

    • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve requirement-gathering and documentation processes for better efficiency and accuracy.

    • Technology & Industry Awareness: Stay up to date with the latest software development trends, tools, and methodologies to contribute to innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in custom software development

  • 3+ years of experience in Financial domain (Banking, Insurance, Investing, Fintech)

  • Excellent technical writing skills and ability to document software requirements and architectures in a crisp way. Ability to present and explain software requirements to different groups of users including engineering teams and business stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of how business requirements are gathered, analyzed and documented

  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to negotiate business/technical requirements and project schedule with the customer and external vendors.

  • Excellent analytical skills. Ability to learn from customers, analyze past projects and advise top management on how the sales strategy can be improved and how reusable technical solutions can be developed

  • Hands-on experience leading small, medium, and large-scale technology projects

  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies in particular

  • At least basic understanding of Java/Scala technology stack and software architecture

  • At least basic understanding of NoSQL data stores like Cassandra

  • At least basic understanding of IaaS and PaaS concept

  • Experience with API design and documentation
