Senior Data Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to spearhead a critical data integration and reporting initiative within a global enterprise environment.
Essential functions
Design, implement and maintain highly scalable data pipelines utilizing Azure Databricks and Spark
Lead the architectural transition by developing and maintaining the Gold (semantic) layer within a Medallion architecture to power enterprise-grade business reporting
Analyze existing codebases to identify data entry points, map source-to-target architectures and develop custom data adapters to facilitate seamless source switching
Redesign and optimize data consumption processes, enabling secure, governed and direct data access from Databricks Unity Catalog
Oversee the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), actively identifying technical risks, spotting system dependencies and advising on agile task prioritization
Partner closely with internal teams (Data Foundation and Product engineering) to ensure smooth platform transitions, aligned system states and proper access management approvals
Implement robust CI/CD pipelines and system observability practices to guarantee data integrity, automated testing, and platform reliability
Qualifications
Proven track record as a Data Engineer or Lead Data Engineer in complex, enterprise-level environments
Expert-level proficiency in Python & Spark & Apache Airflow
Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Databricks
Experience with CI/CD practices
Demonstrated ability to independently analyze legacy codebases and successfully orchestrate large-scale data migrations or source-switching processes
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical dependencies into actionable business plans
Would be a plus
Experience working directly with enterprise BI tools, specifically Power BI, to understand and optimize for downstream reporting requirements
Previous experience operating in a Lead capacity, driving technical strategy, and mentoring junior engineering team members
Experience implementing modern data observability and automated data quality monitoring frameworks
