Big Data Engineer
We are hiring Data Engineers for a big gaming company to work on high-impact projects, including the migration of event systems from ClickHouse to Databricks, building and optimizing a modern data lake, and developing scalable data pipelines. This role will give you the opportunity to design, optimize, and maintain distributed data systems that support analytics, machine learning, and reporting across the organization.
Essential functions
Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) and other modern data tools
Migrate data workflows from ClickHouse to Databricks, ensuring reliability and performance
Build and optimize data models and processing workflows for analytics and telemetry data
Implement data contracts, governance, and quality frameworks to ensure consistency and integrity
Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering teams to improve data accessibility and support data-driven decision-making
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues in batch and real-time processing jobs
Document data assets, transformations, and workflows for engineering knowledge sharing
Qualifications
Strong experience with Python (or solid experience with Scala as an alternative)
Working knowledge of Java or Scala for backend/data engineering tasks
Strong experience with SQL and Apache Spark in production environments
Hands-on experience with Databricks and distributed data systems
In-depth understanding of data concepts, architecture, and debugging Spark jobs
Proven ability to work with large-scale data sets and complex pipelines
Would be a plus
Extensive experience in data engineering or backend development (5+ years preferred)
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
Experience with orchestration and data tools such as Airflow, Kafka, or dbt
Knowledge of data mesh principles and modern data quality frameworks
Knowledge of gaming analytics
